Operation: Change of Address

Hello. My name is Tami. And I just moved in with my boyfriend.  Eek!

It is brand new and so far it has been incredibly exciting and terrifying and not that different and yet totally different and fun and awkward and crazy and so much cooler than I could have expected.

And, I have to say, it's not the sharing a bathroom thing that's been the biggest adjustment. It's the combining of the things- the styles, the art, the furniture, the weird accessories that have meaning only we can appreciate.  It's the deciding where things go and what things stay and how not to get super defensive out of fear that this space isn't going to feel like yours.

And it occurred to me that people everywhere are doing this. And how fascinating it would be, not only to share our experiences {or trade war stories} but to see how everyone does it. To see what two separate styles look like when they are successfully fused together.  We may not admit it but- ok, I'll admit it- we love peering into other people's windows to get a glimpse of what their lives look like, to make a quick assessment of what we like about what they did in their space and what we would do differently....No? Just me, then?

And so, Operation: Change of Address was born. A place to log my experiences and open up a conversation in hopes that sharing these thoughts will be, in some way, helpful. But mostly, this is a place where you can see the befores and the afters and tuck others' secrets into your pockets for when your time comes.

It's ok. I'll go first. But if you or a fabulous couple you know are approaching a Move In, let us know on our contact page.  We'd love to photograph the journey.

  1. Just came across your blog via apartment therapy.... I am in LOVE. I may have rocked a pin on pinterest of your dining and living space... I'm currently sanding down my childhood dining table to re-stain it and turn it into a trestle... You've reminded me why I wanted to do it in the first place! Thanks for the LOVELY home xx

    1. Hi Kate! Thank you so much for such wonderful compliments. I'm so happy you liked our home and that your inspiration has been refreshed. I always love looking at other peoples' spaces for that same reason, but it is the best thing in the world to know that we were able to do that for someone else. Best of luck with the table- sounds like a fun project. I'd love to see before and afters!
